Well, it happened. The leaves are falling off the trees. If you’re like me and currently mourning summer, I’m sending you my condolences and well wishes.
But, despite wanting an endless summer, even I know there are plenty of things about fall to be excited about! The crisp air, fashion and activities… what’s not to love?
To get you in the spooky spirit, I’ve put together 10 date ideas to make the seasonal transition a little easier. Don’t worry, I threw in some cozy fall ones too, for those who aren’t as keen on Halloween.
Get spooked at a haunted house or local haunt
Being scared is fun, right? Check out a haunted house or local haunted place in your city. Holding hands and screaming is encouraged.
Go to or host a Halloween party
Bonus points for wearing a couple’s costume. Even more points for those bold enough to go to a party on a first date. My parents met at a Halloween party, so you never know what could happen!
Pick out a pumpkin
Going to a pumpkin patch is usually labelled as #basic, but on a nice fall day, you can’t beat it! Go full pumpkin by picking out your fave, carving it and toasting the seeds.
Hand out candy
Help the trick-or-treaters fill their bags and buckets. Or just help yourself to the Halloween candy. No need to share.
Watch scary movies and Halloween classics
On a cold, windy night, there’s nothing like getting bundled up and watching Halloween classics. I’ve listed out some faves to get you started.
- Scream
- Halloween
- Practical Magic
- Halloween Town
- The Exorcist
- The Craft
- Hocus Pocus
Check out a corn maze
Whether you want to go the more wholesome route or you want to be chased by someone with a chainsaw, your town probably has options for both.
Go on a hayride
Spend an afternoon in your best plaid, get cozy under a blanket and drink hot apple cider while being carted around? Say less.
Get outside
Depending on where you live, chances are the weather is still pretty nice. Wear layers and soak up some vitamin D on a hike, walk or bike ride.
Decorate your space
Really get into the spooky season by putting up Halloween decorations while listening to Monster Mash. Think bat window decals, hanging ghosts, pumpkins and lots of candles.
Go on a Halloween pub crawl
A pub crawl? Super fun. Doing a pub crawl in Halloween costumes? Even better.
Whether you’ve been dating for a while or just met, I know you’ll take some inspo from these fun ideas. So, grab your long-term partner, a new special someone or your best friend and go on a fall adventure!
