This year has been tough for many, especially those who had big plans for their wedding day before Covid-19 pressed pause on all events. But the pandemic was not about to stop Plenty of Fish success couple, Tiffany and Terrell, from saying “I do!” In a very small ceremony on the decorated steps of their home, this happy couple walked down the aisle and pulled off a beautiful wedding in just two weeks. We spoke to the couple to find out how Covid-19 has impacted their lives and how they came together to celebrate the one thing everyone needs right now – love!
When you first saw each of your profiles, what was it that stood out to you?
Tiffany: I thought he was cute! I noticed that he was also divorced like me and I felt that hopefully that meant we kind of knew what we wanted this time around.
Terrell: She was cute!
Who messaged who first, and what did you say?
Tiffany: Terrell messaged me first. I almost missed it because I was in the midst of deleting the app but then his message caught my eye.
What made you two click when you were messaging?
Terrell: It was a very down to earth conversation. It felt very easy.
What did you do for the first date?
Tiffany: Our first date was just a lunch date to meet up. Our second date was the significant one – we went to the movies and lunch but it was the first time we held hands and I really saw this as a potential relationship
Tell me more about your wedding during the time of COVID-19. Did you have plans of a wedding with friends and family prior to this happening? Did you virtually share your wedding with family and friends?
Tiffany: We originally were planning to have a small ceremony on May 2nd before Covid-19 hit. We were supposed to leave for St Lucia on the 3rd. We kept hoping things would clear up and they obviously got worse, so we ended up postponing the trip.
In April, both of my parents contracted Covid-19 and passed away within days of each other so all wedding planning was done for me. We finally ended up deciding (after a little push from my sisters) to just do it. I gave my sister two weeks to basically plan whatever she wanted. I got my dress from Amazon and Terrell ordered clothes for him and our son and we did it, we got married.
Initially we invited a handful of friends and family in person and wanted to do a Zoom for those that couldn’t physically attend. At the last minute I said “let’s go live on Facebook” which worked out great because there were some Zoom issues. Both of us had our live-stream going so our friends and family from all over were able to watch which was great!
We held a small ceremony, no wedding party, on the decorated steps of our home. We took a few photos and went inside where my cousin had cooked and one of my closest friends, Chef Ralph Harris, made an amazing Red Velvet cake. Everyone did such an amazing job given that I only gave them two short weeks!
The weather had been predicting rain all week and thankfully the sun was shining so bright for our day instead. Our almost two year old son walked me down the “aisle” in place of my father.
You two have overcome some really tough times together, what do you love most about one another?
Terrell: I love that Tiffany is very sweet and caring. She’s always fun to be around and she is nurturing to her’s and our family. She’s my perfect fit.
Tiffany: I love that Terrell makes me genuinely happy. He goes out of his way to make sure of that. We put in the work for our relationship, there’s no just walking away.
What is your best piece of advice for those using Plenty of Fish to find their special person? Any tips around dating virtually you can provide?
Tiffany: If you’re dating after divorce (or even a long term breakup) don’t be afraid to try again. This is both of our second marriages. There is still love out there, so be open to it. And always be honest from day one about who you are and what you are looking for. Pretending only sets false expectations.
Terrell: Give it time, know your boundaries and have fun!
