When we picture our perfect partner, oftentimes it’s someone that you feel you’ve known your whole life, even if you’ve only just met. This is exactly what happened for Plenty of Fish success couple Austin and Rachel.

Austin and Rachel reached out to us after recently getting engaged (yay!!!) and sent us a sweet video answering some questions we had about their relationship. From the video alone, their chemistry and love for one another is undeniable. Here’s what they had to say.

When you first saw each of your profiles, what was it that stood out to you?

Austin: Her eyes, because they’re so beautiful

Rachel: I took the questionnaire first and he was my top rated match and I thought there has to be something to that so I looked at his pictures. He didn’t really put much effort into his profile (here Austin laughs and agrees) but I trusted the matching process

Who messaged who first and why?

Rachel: We both actually messaged each other at the exact same second. I took a screenshot of it too because I couldn’t believe it. I was looking at his profile, and then the second I hit send, a message from him popped up in my messages and I thought “This is weird, this is destiny, there’s something happening here.”

What made you two click?

Rachel: We just kept talking and talking and there were never any awkward pauses, it was like I already knew him

Austin: It was like we had known each other for a long time

Rachel: It was very comfortable

Did you go on your first date shortly after meeting on Plenty of Fish, or did you chat online for a bit?

Rachel: With our schedules, we couldn’t meet for a few weeks

Austin: We talked for about two weeks and then I went on a trip with my friends for a week and then when I came back we went on a date

What did you do for the first date?

Rachel: We went hiking at the black diamond mines and it was 8 hours I think?

Austin: It was 8 and a half hours of hiking and talking and walking

Rachel: I got sunburned

Austin: I busted my ankle

(They both giggle)

Rachel: But it was still the best. We took a picture that day. We just did not run out of things to say and I just felt like we did not want it to end

Austin: Yeah, I agree

What topics of conversation were important for you to bring up earlier on in your relationship?

Rachel: I feel like we both really knew what we wanted. Our values aligned from the get-go which made us more comfortable and able to speak freely and not feel like “well what if he doesn’t feel that way?”

Austin: Absolutely

What do you love most about Austin/Rachel that solidified that they were “The One”

(Austin laughs here and says “Let’s get this in writing”)

Rachel: I’ve just never had anyone care for me the way that he does and I’ve never had so much trust in someone from the beginning. I know that he will always be there for me and love me unconditionally no matter what. He just has such a big heart and is so responsible, and I just admire him in so many ways. That really doesn’t even do how I feel justice.

Austin: It’s hard to put into words, but the way that she pushes me and motivates me. It makes me become a better man. I love her compassion, and she has this ability to allow me to be more myself and be goofy, which is great.

They both agree that they’ve never been this much themselves ever *cue the awwws*

What is your best piece of advice for those using Plenty of Fish to find their special person?

Rachel: There’s going to be good days and bad days, but just trust in the timing and try to be patient with yourself. Be honest answering the questions. Don’t put in an answer that you think someone’s going to want to hear because the whole point is that you are your true self when you meet your person.

Austin: Just be you and make sure you’re safe.

We couldn’t be happier for this amazing couple, thank you for sharing your story with us!
