It’s almost Valentine’s Day and if you still haven’t figured out how to make this day special for your date, don’t worry. We got you. It doesn’t matter if you’re going on a first date or if you’ve been together for 10 years, there’s always something you can do together. Whether you wanna spice things up or chill out, is all up to you.
For the foodies:
I don’t know about you, but I love food. And to be honest, having a regular dinner at some fancy restaurant for Valentine’s Day can get pretty boring and repetitive. So here’s some new ideas for you to mix things up.
Go to a karaoke bar.
What’s a better way to break the ice than singing your heart out together? Not that I can sing.
Go wine tasting
Perfect if you’re a wine lover, even better if you don’t know anything about wine. Get a little tipsy together with good conversation for an all around good time
Plan a picnic
Picnic dates are really it, Pinterest predicts that picnic date ideas will go up by 385% in 2023. If that’s not telling you people love the thought of having a cute little romantic picnic together, I don’t know what will.. Pack some food and take it to a nice park or a beach and watch the sunset together.
Potluck dinner
Some people like celebrating Valentine’s with more than just one person. If so, why don’t you have a potluck dinner with all your closest friends and turn it into a group hang.
Fondue night
Mhhhhhmmm delicious. A treat no one can resist. Unless you’re lactose intolerant.
For the adventure seekers:
If food dates aren’t for you, how about an outdoor adventure?
Go ice skating or rollerblading
As long as you don’t mind falling on your ass in front of your date, going ice skating/rollerblading is not only lots of fun, it’s also pretty romantic. I mean there’s a reason they’re always doing it in romantic movies, right? Btw, it’s also a great last minute Valentine’s Day plan if you don’t have time on your side.
Plan a bike ride or a road trip
Sounds boring doesn’t it? Well it’s not.. if you plan it. Lay out a plan of where you wanna go with some interesting stops on the way. Maybe you pass by the place where you had your first kiss, or your favorite ice cream bar, or maybe you plan the ride so that you finish on the beach at sunset. It’ll be fun if you make it fun. Best of all, it can be super friendly to your wallet, which makes it a perfect option if you’re thinking about infla-dating. Btw if you haven’t heard about infla-dating yet, it’s the dating term you’re about to hear everywhere, The Knot said it themselves.
Take a hot air balloon ride
If you’re feeling bougie af, and feel like pulling out all the stops, why not book a hot air balloon ride. Now instead of looking at one beautiful view, you can look at two of them. It doesn’t get much more romantic than this, or scary if you don’t like heights.
Go stargazing
What’s more romantic than looking at the night sky together? And if you’re far north, maybe you can catch a view of the northern lights, after all February is not a bad time to see them. Just make sure you’ve got a back up plan in case mother nature isn’t feeling the romance.
Have bonfire
Even better if you can play a guitar and sing something cute and romantic. Also, don’t forget the marshmallows.
Play mini-golf
You might suck at regular golf, but everyone can have fun playing mini-golf.
Go on a nature walk
There’s just something special about a hiking date – no distractions, other than the beauty of nature. Spend time appreciating the scenery around you, and if your date doesn’t appreciate the great outdoors like you do, you can always just eco-dump them. Like Glamour said, some people think that a partner that cares about the environment matters more than things like looks or profession. Bonus points if the hike surrounds you with beautiful scenery.
Sporting event
Have you ever felt the adrenaline rush of your favorite sports team winning a nail biter in the final minutes of a game? It’s amazing isn’t it? Now imagine having this feeling with the person you love. It’s 10x better. And if you end up losing, you have each other to cheer yourselves up.
Go to a theme park
Who on earth would not wanna go to a massive theme park full of fun to bring your inner playful child out? Exactly. Just make sure to finish off the date with a yummy funnel cake.
For those who need to chill out:
Some of us just wanna sit back and relax. Not everything has to be about an adrenaline rush, sometimes you just wanna spend some quality time together.
Have a spa day
There’s no better way to relax than at the spa, especially after a hectic workweek. If your person prioritizes relaxation, this date idea will for sure set the mood perfectly.
Comedy night
Help your brains release those endorphins with some quality laughter. Now you just gotta decide if you wanna go out to a comedy show, or just stay home to watch your favorite romcom. Lifehack listed a rom-com marathon as their number one dating idea for Valentine’s Day for good reason.
Game night
Planning game nights is always a great way to spice up your night.. That’s why CountryLiving said it’s the best thing to do on Valentine’s Day. Just make sure not to play the games that make you too competitive.
For those who need some different:
Some of us get bored easily, we need something different, something creative.
Take a pottery or painting class
Get your hands dirty together and create long lasting memories. Have fun and get goofy with it. After all, the New York Post said “Goofy is the new sexy”.
Go to an art gallery or museum
Explore a local museum or an art gallery together. Interesting things spark interesting conversations, which is a great way of getting to know each other. Even Huffpost thinks it’s a great idea, especially if you’re in your infla-dating era.
Surprise scavenger hunt
If you wanna get really creative then this is a perfect idea for you. Scavenger hunts are a great way to add some fun, playful energy to your date. Everyone loves a mysterious surprise.
Learn something new together
A couple who learns together, stays together. Just kidding, I just made that up. Jokes aside, learning something new is a great way to bond. It could be anything, a cooking class or a dance class.
Sure, Valentine’s Day can be a special day, if you want it to be. If you want your date to feel the love, taking the time to do something special will show how much you care. Your date will love it. Surely, there’s a few ideas on this list that you and your person could do that will create some fun new memories for you both to remember. So just pick your favorite idea and make it a memorable Valentine’s Day. And if all else fails, just take your date to their favorite restaurant for a romantic dinner.
