To make the most of your Plenty of Fish experience, it’s often helpful to adjust your mail settings to suit your individual dating needs.
How to ensure you’re using your mail settings correctly?
Read on!
Within your Plenty of Fish account, you have the option to filter who can initially contact you based on the following factors:
- Gender
- Country
- Distance from your location
- Age
- Message length
- Images on their profile
You also have the option to allow other users to see when you’ve viewed their profiles, as well as allow or disable the chat function. These settings can be extremely helpful in allowing you to set your own criteria for the people you’d like to receive messages from. However, keep in mind these filters only apply to first-contact messages, meaning they will not apply to someone who has already messaged you previously.
How to update your mail settings:
Updating your mail settings can be done in just the click of a few buttons.
- Click on “Edit Profile”
- Click on “Mail Settings” in the tabbed menu if using the website, or scroll to the bottom of the page and find “Mail Settings” if using the app
- Make your desired changes
- Don’t forget to save!
To save your changes:
Click “Update Mail Settings” if using the website
Click the green “Save” check mark if using the Android app
Click “Update Profile” if using the iPhone app
If you’re using Plenty of Fish on your desktop, you also have the option to see other users’ mail settings to ensure you meet their criteria before trying to send a message! To do this, scroll down their profile on your desktop, and at the bottom of the page you’ll see a “Mail Settings” box where you’ll see a message that reads “To send a message to — you MUST meet the following criteria.” If you don’t match the users’ criteria, you, unfortunately, will not be able to message them.
