Tis the season of Pumpkin Spiced Lattes and Chai teas; Fall has officially arrived. Summer was filled with late nights, and BBQs with friends and family, but now as the seasons change and the cooler nights roll in, September and October present a perfect time of year to slow down the pace and refocus your priorities on yourself, and your dating life.
As much as curling up on the couch with your favorite book and bottle of wine sounds rather appealing, try shaking up the nightly routine you’ve so quickly become accustomed to, and schedule a proper date night! Perhaps you’re feeling a little uninspired to think of the perfect date activity, but don’t let the Fall weather fool you, there is plenty still to do.
Here are my top most recommended date nights for the cooler months:
Board Game Night and a Pint
Lots of bars have started adding board games to their menu and I can’t think of a better way to break the ice with a new prospective partner! With a primary focus on the game, you two will always have something to keep you entertained, while making conversation and getting to know one another. Overall it’s a great way to reduce the pressures of a first date and to combat any awkward silences that may occur.
PSL and a Walk in the Park
Pumpkin Spiced Lattes, need I say more? This is a great first date. Meet at a popular coffee shop and take your orders to-go. You can either stroll around the neighborhood or walk to the nearest park. The beauty of this date is it can be as quick or as long as you’d like it to be. And if all goes well, maybe you decide to grab dessert at a bakery or a quick bite at a restaurant. The options are endless with this one.

Dinner and a Movie
I’m not promoting movie night for a first date as it doesn’t provide the most optimal atmosphere to chat, but it’s a great third or fourth date, especially in the Fall. Movie theaters have stepped up their game and now provide the VIP experience, where you can grab dinner and a show. Drinks and food are delivered to your theater seat. Talk about service! Get cozy with your date over the latest Rom-Com.
Halloween Costume Shopping
Maybe you and your crush are invited to the same Halloween party, what a great excuse to get some alone time with them before the festivities begin. Help each other out and brainstorm costume ideas together, then hit the thrift shops to find the perfect pieces to wear.
Stroll through the Pumpkin Patch
This one is a true classic. Yes, pumpkin patches are still “a thing.” Plan a weekend outing and head to your local farm to enjoy some hot apple cider while you pick the perfect pumpkin for carving. Some farms even offer hay rides and spooky corn mazes for some added fun. Spend date #2 eating candy and making your very best jack o lantern designs.
