Why Your Friends Are Your Best Dating Sidekicks

Honestly, you owe your friends a lot. Especially when it comes to helping you through your dating journey. They hear you out, pump you up, and are your biggest cheerleaders. Dating has its ups and downs, so it really helps to have stability and a support group you can count on.

There’s nothing quite like the bond between single friends. For better or worse, our shared and similar experiences connect us on another level. You should feel incredibly lucky to have yours by your side—not directly beside you on your date (unless they’re spying from the next table), but you know what I mean. Keep reading for a list of all the underrated ways your friends contribute to your dating success.

They’ll Be There For You

Admittedly, it can be tough to lean on people for help (especially if you’re an independent Capricorn like me). But, your friends will always be there without judgment or bad intentions, and that’s something truly special.

Here’s just a handful of the many ways your friends can and will support you through dating, and why they’re your number one dating sidekicks!

They…

Listen to your dating stories

Your friends are there through the good and the bad times. Venting about dates, hearing their take, and having them there is something you shouldn’t take for granted. Isn’t half the fun of going on a date the post-date rundown with your besties?

Give you great advice

They wouldn’t even dream of leading you astray. Your friends will always be looking out for you, so you know you’ll always get non-judgemental and no-bullshit words of wisdom. They’re superstars at hyping you up about the green flags and warning you about the red flags too. Your truest friends will always tell you how they really feel.

Help you make a top-notch profile

Whether you’re stumped with what pictures to use or what to write in your POF bio, your friends will help you figure it out. Hell, they may even stage a mini photoshoot, so you have the perfect pictures that showcase how great you are. It can be hard to know how to showcase yourself, but your crew will have no problem helping you brag a little.

Plan some stellar dates

Don’t be afraid to use your friends as a resource to scout the best spots for dates! Quality is key when it comes to atmosphere, food, and more, which can sometimes make or break your experience. They’ll remember which places were amazing and which should be avoided at all costs.

Boost your confidence

Sure, your friends may have a biased perception about you because they love you, but they know the real you. They’ll go above and beyond to make sure you walk taller and feel secure with being you. The more confident you feel, the more dun dating will be!

No Ships Like Friendships

Friends; they’re really there through thick and thin. If you’re like me, you have different groups of friends. Though some might be at different stages of their life compared to you, their support and advice are always welcome—everyone has gone through the dating process at some point! You may have your go-to people to vent to, but knowing you have other people in your corner helps a lot. Having a strong support network behind you makes your dating moves feel less risky, which leads to better dates.

Most people are more than willing to hear you out and be there for you. So, don’t forget to take them up on it! And, of course, be there for them in return. That’s what friendship is all about, right?
