The story begins on a cold September night, when Brendan was looking through Plenty of Fish, with his computer on his chest and his heart on his sleeve, he came across a beautiful, intelligent and energetic woman named, Rebecca…

September 2018, I started creating my profile on POF. I was looking for someone who shared similar interests. Then at the same time, this amazing guy (Brendan) showed up in my life and I believe that fate brought us together. – Rebecca

Eager to learn more about Brendan and Rebecca’s love story, I interviewed this wonderful couple just last week to find out how their story began and what advice they could give singles still searching for their partner on POF. Enjoy this heartwarming POF success story!

So I am dying to know, what about each other’s POF profiles caught your eye?!

Brendan: When I noticed she had no profile picture, it made me curious to read what she wrote in her bio even more. When I read her bio, I appreciated the fact that Rebecca clearly took her time to write it and it gave me lots to talk to her about.

Rebecca: I really love the keywords he used on his profile: sunshine, vitamin D. From these couple keywords I had a feeling that he had a very positive attitude and can overcome challenges.

So then who decided to take the first step and send a message?

Brendan: I did, but I can’t recall exactly what I opened with.

Rebecca:  I remember him saying is he was a UBC student and was starting a job soon. The other details I do not remember exactly.

Brendan: We didn’t want to waste too much time chatting and decided to meet, so our first date was just 3 days after meeting on POF.

What did your first date entail? (Dinner, coffee, long chats?)

Brendan: We went for coffee and Rebecca was very quiet that day. I did most of the talking, something I have never had a problem with in my life. However, as I’ve now gotten to know Rebecca, I found out she can be quite the chatterbox herself.

Rebecca: At the first date we had long chats, but most of time he shared his goals and personal story with me, while I listened. I did not talk much, I treated our date more like meeting with a friend. But, when we went for a second date, I realized I was very attracted to Brendan. In my opinion, first impressions are important and it was clear Brendan put effort into looking really nice for our date.

When did you share your first kiss?

Brendan: On one of our later dates, we ventured out to a public park to throw a Frisbee. One thing led to another, Frisbee throwing became dancing in the dark, and eventually we had our first kiss. I still remember the full moon lighting up her beautiful face as she couldn’t pull her eyes away from me.

Rebecca: Our first kiss was when we were dancing in the park while the song played “Baby dancing in the dark”. At that time, we had our first kiss.

What do you love most about each other?

Brendan: Rebecca loves a good adventure, she is crazy in all the right ways, and she also has no problem being the center of attention. At every party we go to, we will always be the first to make our moves on the dance floor!

Rebecca: I really love that Brendan has a strong opinion for everything he’s doing and he has such a good plan for our future. He has great logical thinking and my most favorite  part is he always can find a great way to solve problems.

What is the best advice you can give to singles currently dating looking for the one?

Brendan: Never ever give up! Just because a date with one, two or fifty different people doesn’t work out, doesn’t change the fact that there is a perfect person out there for you. Also, don’t overlook the profiles with no pictures.

Rebecca: From my personal opinion, sometimes you have to believe in fate and the right time, just keep trying and never give up. Also, don’t be afraid to be make your profile unusual, it will catch other peoples attention much easier.
