Here at PlentyOfFish offices we receive an endless stream of emails from hopeful singles who ask us to provide constructive feedback on their profiles. I mean, my own set of eyes has come across literally THOUSANDS of these requests in my three years here, and there is always a lot of forum activity surrounding the topic as well. Users from every demographic reach out to us in hopes of ensuring that they really are putting their best foot forward in their quest for love. So when Jamie, a lovely 29 year old gentleman from Limerick, reached out to us, we asked if we could publish a review of his POF profile to not only help him maximize his experience here, but others in the process too!

Feedback: This username works for me, however, it doesn’t stir up a great deal of curiosity or move me to want to send a message. POF’s best usernames tend offer some insight into the person behind the screen, so integrate a sport or activity you are interested in, a quote you relate to, a line from a movie, or even a character from your favorite novel! You can even consider integrating an adjective or quality that describes you, or a favorite place!
Jamie’s Headline: “A lovely down to earth woman would be great”
Feedback: This headline falls into the same category as the username. There is nothing wrong with stating what you are looking for in a headline, and it’s definitely head and shoulders above the generic “Hey There’s” and creepy pick-up lines, but why not use this attention grabbing space to make a joke, pose a question, or use a conversation starter? GET CREATIVE! Some recent headlines that I came across and enjoyed include:
- “The guy below me lives with his mom”
- “I’m out boating, leave a message!”
- “Free high-fives”
- “Here, you can have the remote”

Feedback: The more images you have on POF, the more success you will have – it’s just science! Jamie is off to a great start with images (as evidenced by his photos featured above). I’m immediately impressed by the images of him in a suit, and also the shot alongside his canine companion. (Pro-tip: dog ownership, aka. making sure a living breathing thing doesn’t die, shows women you have great dating potential). Where Jamie can really improve is in the group shots. When we upload multiple photos with our friends we can come off as hard partiers, and people who may be interested might not even know which one is the real you! At PlentyOfFish we also recommend staying away from images with sunglasses because they hide your face, as well as snapshots of you standing too far away. We encourage our users to post images of themselves enjoying sports, interests or activities they love – show off what makes you unique! Into cosplay? POST AN IMAGE. Keep in mind that your favorite photo may not be the same as someone else’s, so keep switching up your main image to keep things fresh!

Hello there I’m Jamie. Back again to POF.
From Limerick County. I work on my parent’s busy Dairy farm. Single long enough so keeping my options open and seen what POF has to offer. I’m a down to earth bloke. I quite like to travel, be it around Ireland or across the world I’m for it. Traveled much of the country and have seen much central and eastern Europe and Canada. People often say distance doesn’t work. What do I see as too far away? Well as ye may have read I love to travel. Dublin would be a bit far, Waterford and that’s all I can think of right now. I do travel to the likes of Cork, Galway and Tipperary often enough so I’m open to go there. I’m a sucker for accents. Quite like the English accent. Liverpool or London accent is quite nice. I know a little basic Polish, Slovak and French but yeah just basic not fluent. Love to learn Spanish.
Listen to classic rock music Queen, Guns n Roses, Metallica and so on. I like Comedy, Action, and Horror and so on. If there’s anything else you’d like to know feel free to ask. Bueno, mi razón de eso es que voy a estar volando a España pronto, sé bastante mucho de los españoles aquí en casa, Ndone mi Reserch y soy muy aficionado a las cantidades de Barcelona en otras ciudades de España. Feedback: Jamie’s write-up offers some great insight into who he is. He keeps things positive, highlighting his job, love for travel, and musical preferences. I especially appreciate the short note in Spanish at the end – it’s a nice touch. My main recommendation for improvement here is to add more soul. Since Jamie loves to travel, why not highlight a special memory from abroad, or a personal anecdote? Even a funny story from the dairy farm! It’s snippets of personality like this that set people apart from the crowd on POF.
