If there is one thing people love more than sex, it’s food.

Or is that just me?

Our relationship with food may be one of the strongest relationships to date, seeing as it’s part of our everyday routine. I would personally, love fried chicken to be my first hello and last goodbye.

Since food takes the front seat in our dating life, from first date dinners to morning after brunches, I’ve devoted this post to food, by putting together the top 3 perfect first date plates, that will hopefully lead you right into the second.

The Safe Bet – Fresh Napoli Pizza

“I hate pizza” – Said no one ever.

This is by far your safest first date food, for multiple reasons. Not only is pizza insanely delicious, you have options for all types of diets, whether unbeknownst to you, you’re date is a vegan, meat lover, or vegetarian. Lots of pizzerias now offer gluten free crust as well! Going for pizza sets a casual, relaxing atmosphere, keeping the nerves at bay, vs. sitting down at an overly priced candlelight steak dinner for two.

The Fun + Flirty Share Plate – Charcuterie

My favorite type of first date is one where I learn about my date’s likes and dislikes, especially when it comes to food. By ordering a share plate, you and your date can chat about what your favorite meats and cheese are, and whether he/she likes olives? (Deal-breaker if he hates olives). If conversation isn’t flowing as nicely as you’d like it to, the beauty of this first date food is it’s a pretty quick bite, and you can be on your way if you want to end things earlier than expected.

So Fresh and So Clean – Sushi

Okay, I know sushi is deemed adventurous for some, BUT, the Japanese cuisine has lots to offer, for someone who may not share a mutual love and admiration for sushi – yakisoba noodles, teriyaki chicken, agedashi tofu to name a few. The reason this fine roll made it to the top of the list, is because I am 100 percent bias, as it’s my favorite food, but also, and more importantly, it tends to be the least messy to eat in front of your date, which is a huge bonus. Leave the messy chicken wing hands and spinach filled teeth for the third or fourth date.
