Hosted by Plenty of Fish and ACL – Tech’s Got Talent, the epic lip sync battle between Vancouver’s largest tech companies, went down last night in Vancouver and everyone served some serious talent!
The goal of this legendary battle is not only to earn industry bragging rights, but most importantly, to raise dollars for local Vancouver charities that directly impact our community.
The evening began with the gathering of 14 competing teams, filled with nerves and excitement, ready to take the big stage at The Imperial. The always hilarious host, Scott Patey, warmed up the crowd and introduced the guest celebrity judges, Kendall Gender – Winner of Vancouver’s Next Drag Superstar 2017, Jay DeMerit – Former Whitecaps FC Captain and Kaitlyn Bristowe – Former Bachelorette.
The stage was set, performers were on deck, and there was an encouraging buzz from the audience. The first 7 teams set the bar high with their quick costume changes, set design and serious dance moves. Among them were – BroadbandTV, Plenty of Fish, A Thinking Ape, Clio, Long View Systems, Stellar Recruitment and Samsung.
Act 2 proved to be just as strong as Act 1 with 7 more performances from Mobify, ACL, Cymax, Allocadia, Hootsuite, Hyperwallet, and Trulioo. Performance styles ranged from a beautiful tribute to legendary music icons, to the 24K magic of Bruno Mars.
The evening was a huge success and all 14 companies raised a grand total of $33,000 for Vancouver charities.
Congratulations to the winners!
