We’re only two days away from the big couples costume party, and you have no idea what you’re going to do. Fortunately, ideas for last-minute costumes are plentiful, especially if you’re going for a couples costume. Here are a few fun ones to try:

Flappers and Fellas

This time-period focused costume is always a fun go-to. The fun flapper style dresses and the dashing men’s apparel ensure that you’ll be one of the best-looking couples at the party. You can try to create your own with this one, but if you’re short on time and supplies order a ready-made costume instead to make sure you’ve got all the details covered.

Dirty Dancing

Pulling together a costume for Johnny and Baby from this classic movie should take just minutes. A black polo shirt – collar turned up, of course – and black jeans are all you need for Johnny. Then Baby will need some jean shorts, cuffed and a button-down shirt with the front tied off and you’ve got the outfit from the dance practice scene.

Chip and Joanna Gaines

If you’re a fan of the HGTV show, Fixer Upper, you know how great this couple is. This is a super simple costume to create. For Chip, jeans, and a tool belt are the essential pieces. You may want to add a hardhat or a random tool to carry. For Joanna, jeans, a button down shirt with her famous #shiplap tee underneath (homemade, of course, with some iron-on letters) and a wig to replicate her long, dark hair and you’re all set!

Shipwrecked Couple

A shipwrecked couple may be one of the easiest to throw together. Find some old clothes that you don’t mind ripping up and getting dirty, some ropes or twine, a toy knife, and maybe some ripped up fabric for a headband, then smudge some dark brown blush or eye shadow on your face to look like dirt and you’re set.

Bandits

A pair of matching bandits is such a fun costume, requiring just black pants, black and white striped shirts, a black stocking cap, and a simple mask for your eyes. To complete the ensemble, grab or make a simple bag out of black fabric and paint a white dollar sign on it to clearly show your bag of “loot.”

Eleven and Mike from Stranger Things

If you haven’t seen the hottest show in the last two years to hit television, it’s okay. I can guarantee a large number of party-goers will know exactly who you are. The main characters of Stranger things are Mike and Eleven. Here’s a great take on their attire that’s sure to have you the talk of the party. But you really should watch the show…

Pantone Colors or Paint Chips

If you’re a designer or just love color in all of its splendor, then you can surely appreciate this costume idea. Pick two of the top Pantone colors for you and your partner to dress in. Clearly mark the Pantone logo somewhere on your costume, so that it appears similar to that of a paint chip.

And speaking of paint chips, if you like the idea of color, but don’t want a head to toe colorful outfit, consider going as a paint chip, instead. Grab a poster board, paint stripes in various shades of one color and then mark the corner with a paint logo. Tie some string around the top and loop it over your head – voila! Instant costume that you can wear over any clothes you like.

These are just a few sample ideas. Costumes don’t have to be complicated or elaborate to make a statement. Play around with what you already have, grab a few craft supplies or visit your local Halloween store, and you can most likely pull together the outfit of your dreams in just a few short hours.
